InBody scan in Altona North
Know your muscle, your body fat and your progress, not just your weight. InBody body composition scans are included in every ANT membership. Not a member? Scans are $30 each, or $97 for unlimited scans for a year.
More than a number on the scales
Scales tell you what you weigh. An InBody scan tells you what that weight is made of.
Two people can weigh the same and look and feel completely different. If you are training for strength, the scales can stay still while you lose fat and gain muscle. The InBody scan shows that change, so you can see your training working.
- Skeletal muscle mass. The muscle you are building.
- Body fat mass and percentage. What you are losing.
- Segmental lean mass. Arms, legs and torso, side by side.
- Basal metabolic rate. A starting point for your nutrition plan.

InBody scan questions
What is an InBody scan?
An InBody scan measures your body composition using bioelectrical impedance. You stand on the scanner and hold the handles, and a small, safe electrical current passes through your body. Muscle, fat and water conduct it differently, so the scanner can estimate how much of each you carry. The InBody 270 at ANT uses 8 contact points on your hands and feet.
What does an InBody scan measure?
Weight, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, body fat percentage, BMI and basal metabolic rate, plus how much lean mass you carry in each arm, each leg and your torso. That segmental view shows imbalances between sides and where you are building muscle.
How long does it take?
Under 2 minutes. You step on, hold the handles, and the results print straight away.
How should I prepare?
For results you can compare over time, scan under the same conditions each time: before eating or 2 to 3 hours after a meal, before training rather than after, after using the bathroom, and not straight after a sauna or shower. Same time of day is best.
InBody vs DEXA: which is better?
A DEXA scan uses a low dose of X-ray in a clinic. It is the reference standard for body composition and also measures bone density, but it costs more and usually means an appointment elsewhere. An InBody scan uses no radiation, takes under 2 minutes and is done at the gym, so you can repeat it every few weeks. For tracking whether your training and nutrition are working, regular scans under the same conditions are what matters.
How often should I get scanned?
Every 4 to 6 weeks is enough to see real change. On the 21 Day Experience you are scanned on day one and again in week three.
Who should not have an InBody scan?
Anyone with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical device, and anyone who is pregnant, should not use bioelectrical impedance scanners.
Is the InBody scan included at ANT?
